Friday, Nov. 27th
Assignments that were to be passed in. exponent assign 8-1 and Exponents Laws Assignment 2.
We have been doing lots of review for next week’s test. Those review sheets are: exponent practice 8-2, exponent practice 8-3, exponent practice 8-4, exponent practice 8-5.
Thursday, Nov. 19th
Today I gave you Exponents Laws Worksheet 4 to work on and hand in. Only 3 or 4 students finished it in class. The rest of you need to hand it in by the beginning of class tomorrow.
Wednesday, Nov. 18th
We started power rules today. Two of our class members showed us the rules they’ve learned for dealing with these. After a bunch of examples I gave you the following Exponents Laws Worksheet 3.
Tuesday, Nov. 17th
I’m still looking for assignments from students. (It is #25 – 52) from the worksheet given days ago.
I also gave you another hand in assignment Exponents Laws Assignment 2. It is due at the beginning of tomorrow’s class.
Tuesday, Nov. 10th
Today we continued with exponent laws zero and negative and you are expected to hand in questions #25 – 52 for homework. Judging on how we struggled in class on this we will continue to practice this on monday. Have a great weekend!
Monday, Nov. 9th
Today we did more work on the laws of exponents, we considered what zero exponents mean as well as what negative exponents signify. I gave you a worksheet and we worked at the the first section of the sheet.
Thursday, Oct. 22nd
Today we looked at estimating square roots. We did an activity together, and then I did examples. Finally I asked you to do questions the estimating square roots worksheet
Tuesday, Oct. 20th
We went over the worksheet today, then I handed out a more complex worksheet for you to answer and hand in. (V and SA of complex figures 1)
Monday, Oct. 19
Today we learned about the surface areas and volumes of spheres. We went through this Surface Area & Volume of Spheres powerpoint presentation, then we worked out each of the examples on the volume and surface area of sphere handout and finally I asked you to attempt the questions on the first page of this vol SA of sphere worksheet. Thursday, Oct. 15
Today we continued worksheets on determining the volume of cylinders and cones. Yesterday we did volume of cones and cylinders 1 and today I gave volume of cones and cylinders 2. Both sheets are to be handed in for marks.
Tomorrow there will be a small quiz on determining the volume of cones and cylinders.
Friday, Oct. 2nd
We went over yesterday’s review sheet. Be prepared for your quiz on Monday. Calculating the surface areas of pyramids.
Then we started section 8.4 in the text on solving problems in 2 dimensions. You did the activity on page 450.
Thursday, Oct. 1st
Today I gave back lots of work to you, gave you a progress report, and handed out a Quiz #1 Review sheet. We will have a quiz on Monday of calculating the surface areas of pyramids.
Tuesday, Sept. 29th
Today we continued our work on the areas of pyramids. I gave you handouts of Surface Area examples and we went over them.
Thursday, Sept. 24th
Today I went over most of the review questions and I gave you a sample test in preparation for tomorrow’s test on UNIT 1.

Wednesday, Sept. 23rd
Well, I was away for a few days and you were given two assignments while I was gone. (Matrix Assignment 1 and Matrix Assignment 2) I also gave you some review questions out of the book to look at for a unit test. Those questions were #4 through 11 on page 50, and I gave you a matrix review sheet because none of those questions are in your book.
Friday, Sept. 18th
Today we went over the homework, and then I introduced the Matrix Multiplication Examples and assigned the questions on page 2.

Thursday, Sept. 17th
We continued the concept of matrices today, and went over examples and problems from the Matrix writing examples handout. Then we went over the examples, and I assigned the rest of the problems from the Matrix addition examples handout.
Wednesday, Sept. 16
Today we went over yesterday’s work, we then did a few harder examples, and some more textbook problems. Finally, I started to introduce matrices.
Tuesday, Sept. 15th
Today we did a Stock Market Activity, we then did some examples of percentage problems, and I assigned pg 41 #2 a, b, c, d #3 a, b, c, d, and #4 a, b, c, d.
Monday, Sept. 14th
Class started with a review of last day’s work. After that we review some fraction work, and looked at a Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe that we had to reduce and enlarge. It was much more challenging then it first seemed!
At the end of class I started to explain the stock markets, and we will be doing an activity on those tomorrow, before moving into percentages.
Friday, Sept. 11th
Today we did a staggered class of some exampoles, some questions, more examples, more questions, etc. All in all you were asked to do the following questions from the book:
Pg. 34 #4 a, g, i, #6 a, c, e, #7 a, c, e as well as pg.35 #14 a, b, c, d
Most of you had enough time to finish these questions in class.

Thursday, Sept. 10th
Today I gave you a Fraction Level activity which consisted of 6 different fraction activities that varied in difficulty. I asked you each to complete at least 3 of these activities and check off the activities that you’ve completed.
Wednesday, Sept. 9th
Today I went over a few worksheets on converting decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals. I asked yo to complete all of the questions from fractions to decimals, and only selected about half of the decimals to fractions sheet.

Tuesday, Sept 8th
Welcome to grade 9 Math!! Today I introduced my expectations in class in terms of MANNERS as well a handout of the math 9 outline.
After that we did some fraction work and I gave three worksheets on fractions. Depending on where you sit in the class you have different questions assigned. The sheets are: reducing fractions, reducing improper fractions, and convert mixed to improper fraction.
